8 Sheffield Resources Limited Annual Report 2023 Aboriginal and Community Engagement The Kimberley Mineral Sands team continued community engagement and consultation processes throughout the reporting period, providing community, government representatives and traditional owners with opportunities for engagement on Thunderbird activities. Kimberley Mineral Sands maintains a policy to employ as many local people as possible and have a large proportion of the permanent residential workforce and their families based in the West Kimberley. This ensures that as much economic benefit as possible is retained in the region, through increased spend and population growth which contribute to both economic and social benefits. To date, over 80% of the Kimberley Mineral Sands workforce are residents of the Kimberley region, with 25% identifying as indigenous. Female employees of KMS account for nearly 30% of the workforce.
